NOTICE: The Lithuanian Development Agency (LDA) has been restructured into two public organizations - "Invest Lithuania" and "Enterprise Lithuania". The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania is the owner of the two new institutions.


Delegation of More than 50 Chinese Business Representatives Arriving to meet Lithuanian Business Partners

Next week a delegation of more than 50 Chinese businessmen, accompanying the Chinese Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu, are arriving to Lithuania to meet potential Lithuanian business partners.

Lithuanian Development Agency, the Ministry of Economy of Lithuania as well as the Chinese Embassy are organizing a Lithuanian-Chinese business forum and a contact fair on the 31st of August in Vilnius.  Lithuanian enterprises will have a chance to individually meet business representatives from Chinese engineering, energy, chemical, construction, logistics, pharmaceutical and other industries and discuss potential joint business projects.»

Moog Medical Devices to Invest EUR 2M in Lithuania and Establish Services Centre

The U.S. company Moog Medical Devices which acquired the company the Lithuanian Viltechmeda at the beginning of the year 2009, intends to invest EUR 2M in Lithuania in the nearest future, to establish a modern services centre and expand its research and technology branch. »

Standard & Poor’s: Lithuanian Government Is Taking Sufficient Measures

On Monday Standard & Poor's (S&P) affirmed Lithuania's long-term investment grade sovereign foreign currency BBB credit rating and removed it from a CreditWatch negative position, citing government commitments to address deteriorating public finances. »

Swedish Press: Worst Times Has Already Passed for Lithuania

Yesterday the Swedish business daily Dagens Industry published an interview with Andrius Kubilius, the Prime Minister of Lithuania, to Bloomberg News. In the interview Mr Kubilius states that Lithuanian export and industry indexes are showing improvements and the recovering German and French economies stimulate the Lithuanian economy as well. »

Quality of Living in Vilnius Higher Than in Neighbouring Capital

Vilnius is the highest-ranking capital (79) among neighbouring countries according to the annual worldwide Mercer's 2009 Quality of Living Survey. The results of the survey show that the quality of life in Lithuania’s capital is better than that in Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia), Warsaw (Poland), and Minsk (Belarus) as well as some other European cities. Vilnius is also ranked higher than Lisbon (Portugal), Athens (Greece) and Prague (the Czech Republic) in terms of infrastructure. »

Lithuania Visited for Both Leisure and Business Purposes

Statistics Lithuania informs that the number of overnight trips of foreigners in 2008, against 2007, grew by 8.5 % (from 1.5 million in 2007 to 1.6 million in 2008), while that of the same-day trips – by 4.4 % (from 2.7 million in 2007 to 2.8 million in 2008). »

Fujitsu Expands WiMAX Terminal Ecosystem in Lithuania

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) and the Lithuanian IT enterprise “Teltonika” collaborate to offer WiMAX operators a new and expanded range of WiMAX terminals. Teltonika with R&D, production and support in Vilnius, Lithuania, will expand its wirelessGSM, GPRS and HSDPA modules and terminals portfolio with new WiMAX terminals based on Fujitsu’s second generation WiMAX chipset and protocol stack.  »

Long-Term Production Contract with the US Company Chatsworth Products

Last month the Lithuanian UAB Stansefabrikken has signed a long term cooperation agreement with Chatsworth Products, Inc., (CPI). UAB Stansefabrikken will produce cabinets for a storing and securing IT equipment, which are going to be shipped to European countries, the Middle East countries and Africa. All preparation works are planned to be done within August and the serial production should start in September. »

New Shopping and Entertainment Centre Opened in the Capital City

The German developer “ECE” together with Lithuanian partners opened a new shopping and entertainment centre Ozas Gallery last Thursday in Vilnius. Ozas Gallery was built in less than two years by Kayi Construction, and the investment volume came to EUR 170M. »

Klaipėda Seaport to Connect Asia and Scandinavia

The international transportation company YASHEYA has chosen Klaipėda State Seaport to transport containerised bulk cargo from India to Scandinavia. »
